Until further notice, classes will be phyiscally-distanced, non-contact, and no-partner group practice of katas and drills.

In keeping with CDC and NYS guidance, masks must be worn when entering the dojo, and at all times in the dojo.

At this time we are unable to accommodate new students or visitors.

If any of the following are true we ask that you do not attend in-person classes.

  • you have a body temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or greater, a new cough, new loss of taste or smell, or shortness of breath within the past 10 days;
  • in the past 10 days, you tested positive for COVID-19 (10 days from the date of the test) using a test that tested saliva or used a nose or throat swab (not a blood test);
  • in the past 14 days, you have been, to the best of your knowledge, in close contact (within 6 feet) with someone who – at the time – was diagnosed with COVID-19; or
  • in the past 14 days, you traveled internationally or returned from a state identified by New York State as having widespread community transmission of COVID-19 (other than just passing through the restricted state for less than 24 hours).

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we adjust procedures to ensure the safety of all-students practicing in-person.

Ms Edwards, Ms. Souder and Mr. Schallert
A hearty congratulations to everyone from the Albany branch, and all the other branches, who competed in the 53rd Annual Wa-Shin-Ryu Tournament. Everyone’s dedication and diligence preparing for the tournament showed in their performances. Three Albany students made an outstanding showing, placing in the top of their events. Ms. Nancy Edwards won first place in women’s intermediate kumite. Mr. James Schallert with his teammates, Mssrs. Steve Rostedt (Vestal branch) and Steven Meade (Copperstown branch), won first place in men’s team kumite. And Ms. Elizabeth Souder won third place in women’s advanced kumite. The cohort of Albany students who participated in the tournament made up the largest showing of competitors from Albany in years.

Special Training with Sensei August 17th

Thursday, August 15th, 2019
We are very excited because Sensei has generously offered to travel to Albany Saturday morning to give us special training at our own dojo.
We will hold a special training seminar with Sensei from 9:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. this Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Albany dojo.  However, we will have to cancel cardio class.
This is Sensei’s first visit to the Albany dojo and it is a great honor for us.  I hope you can all make it Saturday morning.  Please be sure your gi is neat and clean when you arrive and be on the floor warming up and ready to train by 9:30.
