Washin-Ryu Certified Instructors

As an organization, Washin-ryu has a certified instructor licensing program, which ensures that those who lead Washin-ryu branch dojos and clubs or teach college courses with a Washin-ryu curriculum are doing so with the authorization of Master Hidy Ochiai and Hidy Ochiai, Ltd. Hidy Ochiai Ltd. is the parent corporation of Washin-ryu and is the intellectual property owner of all trademarks, copyrights and licensing agreements. The Washin-ryu black belts highlighted on the pages below are certified licensed instructors.

Joh-i Shido-in are the highest ranking certified instructors in Washin-ryu. Joh-i Shido-in may be authorized to lead a Washin-Ryu Branch School, thereby receiving the additional title of chief branch instructor (Shib-cho). They may also be authorized to lead a Washin-Ryu Club or teach Washin-Ryu in a college course. Further, Joh-i Shido-in may also be engaged in a “Licensed Special Use” to teach proprietary Washin-Ryu information in more non-traditional settings, offering a wide range of application of traditional marital arts education. These instructors might be a trainer in leadership or motivational topics for corporations or offer training for special groups, such as Parkinson’s disease, crime victims, or cancer survivor support groups.

Shido-in are certified instructors that may also be authorized to lead a Washin-Ryu Club or teach Washin-Ryu at the college level. Also, Shido-in may lead classes when the instructor-in-charge is absent from a Washin-Ryu Branch School, a Washin-Ryu Club, or a college course. Shido-in may be engaged in a “Licensed Special Use” to teach proprietary Washin-Ryu information in more non-traditional settings.

Jun Shido-in are certified assistant instructors that are authorized to help Joh-i Shido-in and Shido-in in any of their teaching responsibilities.
